To Whom Much is Given Much is Required!

Writer: Rosey Denise Rosey Denise

I don't know about you, but I want some things from God. I want HIM to guide and protect me. I seek his guidance and direction. I ask for many things in both the spiritual and natural realm. God is not the only one I want things from. I also want NEW Customers. I want my business to thrive. I want to help people. I want to go on a vacation....

My list is literally endless of things I WANT and NEED. Sometimes we are so focused on "getting" that we miss the point. Life is not about the sums of our wins and losses; it is not only about what blessings or hardships that we receive. Life, is about the sum of our experiences. In everything that we aim to do, accomplish or receive, we should also be focused on the lessons we learn along the way. The bible is clear when it tells us, that whom much is given, much is required.

Are You Grateful for Anything Today?

  • YES

  • NO

As we are blessed, we should not just add up what we get and subtract what we don't. Instead, give some thought to how you should honor the source who gave it to you. Like the Messiah, we are to be trusted stewards with our gifts and resources. In other words:

How do we choose to demonstrate our thankfulness?

Do we brag or put down others when we get something that they don't? Do we take care of what has been given to us? Are we also in return givers, sharing the goodness we receive with somebody else? Which attributes do we associate with asking and receiving? Sometimes this can be as easy as demonstrating basic respect, care and concern for your fellow man. Regardless of our personal beliefs, one thing we ALL have in common is our humanity.

Everyone WANTS and NEEDS something. From somebody.

God, nor the natural man, is NOT going to give you anything you want, without expecting something in return. I am not speaking in terms of ticks versus tacks... If I give you a cookie, then you owe me a cookies is a simple and fruitless concept. What I am focused on here, is our gratitude! When we give our kids something they have asked for, we expect them to behave during the process... right? We expect them to at least make an effort to take care of whatever things we worked so hard to provide them.

In the same line of thinking, consider how you demonstrate responsibility and/or accountability with the things you have been given. Think about your resources, talents, divine gifts etc... May we all show gratitude in our seasons of giving and receiving. Even when receive everything we have hoped and prayed for, may we also learn something NEW during the process.
